The Gospel and Sexual Sin

Synopsis: The ancient city of Corinth was sexually out-of-control. As a port city, it boasted many brothels. In fact, the ancient Greeks coined the verb "korinthiazo" to refer to a sexually immoral person! Can you imagine trying to live a God-honoring life in that kind of culture? Then again, maybe it isn't that hard for us to imagine. Our world today is filled with many temptations to sexual immorality: internet pornography, sexual content in television and movies and books, hook-up apps on smart phones, prostitution and more. We need Paul's teaching on sexual purity today as much as the Corinthians did.
