Learning to Lament: Psalms of Lament

We live in a fallen, broken world—and life in this world is filled with heartbreak and pain, sorrow and frustration. The Christian life is not one without sorrow, but is filled with toil, trials, and grief. Where do we go with our pain when it feels like life is falling apart? In our Sovereign God, and merciful Savior Jesus, we have a balm for every wound, and comfort for every sorrow; —But we must learn how to process our pain before the Lord, we must learn how to move from heartbreak to hope. Thankfully, the Lord doesn’t leave us without instruction — he gives us the grace of lament to verbalize our pain; He teaches us to process our sorrow and give words to our wounds through the psalms of Lament. Crying out to God through the biblical genre of lament helps us trust God in our trials, see his promises in our pain, and move from weeping to worship
