A Prophet Who Went AWOL. That is the title of this sermon from Jonah 1. AWOL stands for Absent Without Official Leave. Or in this case, maybe it would better stand for Avoiding the Will Of the Lord. Or Abandoning the Work Of the Lord. In any case, Jonah fled from the presence of the Lord. Find out what happened and why going AWOL is never a good idea!

Does God Change His Mind? That is the title for this sermon from Jonah 3. Twice this chapter uses a Hebrew word expressing that God “relented” or changed his mind. How do we reconcile these verses with other passages that seem to say the opposite? More importantly, what was it in the Ninevites response to Jonah’s preaching that caused God to change his mind and what is the relevance of this chapter to us today?

Jonah 4 contains more surprises. A vine that grows overnight. A divinely appointed worm. A suicidal prophet. Why is the prophet angry? How does the answer to that question relate to the sermon title: Why Jonah Ran Away. This chapter is the key to the whole book of Jonah. It provides us a glimpse into the heart of Jonah. It also gives us a glimpse into the heart of God. What does it tell us about what is in our own hearts?
