DAVID (PASTOR) AND ANNIE LUCAS
Erachakulam, Tamil Nadu, India

Background
In 1977, I came to Dubai and work. I married Annie in 1983 and she joined me in Abu Dhabi 18 months later.

We were blessed to be part of the ECC church family. I have been part of this church since 1979 when it was in a small villa at the old Airport Road near the mosque.

Mission had always been our desire but we still wanted to pursue immigration to Canada. Annie came to India to sell the our property but felt a prodding from the Holy Spirit to start a school in this place for the underprivileged children there. This was to be our mission field and God had a specific purpose for this village. So Annie returned to Abu Dhabi and shared this call with the rest of us and church. They encouraged us to pursue the calling. So in 2001, we began to prepare ourselves in for the tasks ahead. This was a rather sudden but with the confirmations of Pastor Cam’s messages from Acts, and our good friends at ECC we were inspired to go to the southern tip of India, known as Kanyakumari.

After placing the kids in an English medium school we set to begin the work of building, canvasing children from door-to-door and advertising for the Mt. Sinai school. We started the first class with 24 kids aged 3 to 7 years in June 2003.

Mt. Sinai stands strong for its Christian values and high standards of spoken English and education to children aged 3 to 10 years. It stands at the foothills in the southmost part of India in a place called Erachakulam. At present we have grades from lower kindergarten to grade 5 and the numbers of students have increased to 136. We are so blessed to be a part of these children’s lives in a place and culture where children have no say in anything. We are privileged to be able to mentor them and help them build a future for themselves apart from child labor and a future without Christ. The light of the gospel shines brightly through our lives and has definitely been changing lives even with the simplest encounter with the children’s parents and the surrounding villagers. As the scripture states the reclamation of one lost soul causes great rejoicing in Heaven.
