Our Construction Site
January-September 2006

The new church is now beginning to progress at a more visible rate. The earlier parts necessary to build the church started many months ago. The construction committee worked many long hours reviewing plans and working with the engineers and architects to develop the complete set of working drawings required by the contractor to first off bid on the project and then to actually build the building. There are many, many items that go into the building that need to be built in even before the actual walls and floors are built. This is pretty much what you are seeing right now down in the hole next to the church.

Each and every part of this preliminary construction is necessary to get the best facility that we can all possibly get. Hearing all the stories about building the new church in the beginning can be very confusing because up until now progress just seems to be so slow. I have tried, in the last two Construction Site Reports, to show in picture and words what was going on outside our former entrance windows. Up to now all that has taken place is so very critical to the overall construction effort. The large concrete structure that you have been seeing in that hole is the basis for the waterproofing of the site. Ground water is the biggest enemy to this part of the building and the contractor is doing an admirable job on assuring this part our new building will be dry and protected.
The October Issue will begin to show a lot more visible progress. As I stated before this stage of construction always has the appearance of moving so slow but it is all so very necessary.
