Dear Visitor,
We have all been new to Abu Dhabi, most of us quite recently!  We know how hard it is to leave home and family and come to this place where we don't know anyone and have to adjust to a new job, new home, new city and many times a new cultural environment.  Our fervent prayer is that our church could be your Abu Dhabi family.  We hope that the information on this page and this website will be of help to you as you  settle in your new and exciting home of Abu Dhabi.  Please let us know how this information has helped you, or if there is other information we could add to be of greater assistance to you and others.  Welcome to Abu Dhabi!
Sincerely, the Evangelical Community Church

About the United Arab Emirates

The U.A.E. is a small, oil rich state at the southern end of the Persian Gulf. In developing its oil wealth, the U.A.E. has imported a huge labor force from all around the world. Of the total population of approximately 3 million people in the country, only 20 % are nationals. The other 80 % are comprised of expatriate workers from over 150 nations. Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, and has a population of around 500,000. It is a modern city of glass and steel, with shopping malls, and a modern road and communications system. The climate varies from mild spring temperatures in winter (December to March) to very hot and humid in summer. All buildings and cars are air-conditioned. While the national language is Arabic, English is the language of commerce and one can function quite will without knowing Arabic. Signs are in Arabic and English and there are three English-language newspapers published daily, as well as English language radio stations and English TV stations available via satellite.

Maps

Directions to the Church

The church can be found by taking Karamah Street (24th Street) toward the Corniche from Saeed Bin Tahnoon Street (19th Street).  Take the first street to the right from the corner of 19th.  It is marked by a small green sign that says First Street.  A sign to the Korean embassy is also at this corner.  The church is in the fourth block on the right.  Look for a three story yellow brick building with blue construction barriers around the far end.  Al Khubairat School is directly across the street from the church.  If you pass a small mosque on your left, you have passed the church.

Directions to the Church Office Building

Our office is on the second street toward Airport Road from the church.  It is on the left side of the street in the fourth building from the corner. It is right before the second speed bump in the road.   The building is marked with a blue #8 on the left entrance.  Our office is through the right entrance, on the ground floor, flat #3.
